BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The 10th-annual Birmingham Bowl is set for Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, as part of a triple header of bowls on ESPN that day. The game will be played at Historic Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., and will feature a team from the Southeastern Conference against a team from the American Athletic Conference. Kickoff for the nationally televised game is set for noon (ET)/11 a.m. (CT) on ESPN.

“We are very excited about this milestone event for the Birmingham Bowl and pleased that our game has been chosen to kick off a full day of bowl games,” said Mark Meadows, Birmingham Bowl executive director. “We are also excited about playing on a date when schools are traditionally not in session and people are vacationing for the holidays. This should allow the visiting and local fans the opportunity to be in Birmingham to experience all of the bowl week festivities.”

In last year’s Birmingham Bowl, Florida held off a last-minute drive to defeat East Carolina 28-20 as a bowl record 4.4 million viewers watched on ESPN. Since the game’s inception in 2006, the Birmingham Bowl has generated over $108 million in economic impact for the Birmingham community, according to figures provided by the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau.

A commemorative 10th-anniversary logo has also been commissioned and will be released at a later date.

Tickets for the 10th-annual Birmingham Bowl will go on sale to the public on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015. Ticket pricing will be $50 for East and West reserved sideline seating and $30 for general admission corner seats. Discounted Group Tickets are also available.
