BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Youth football players from Birmingham and the surrounding areas are invited to attend a free half-day football fundamentals clinic on Saturday, August Aug. 23rd at Parker High School Stadium in Birmingham. Instruction will be provided by former NFL and collegiate players on the staff of Pro Start Academy.
The clinic is hosted by the Birmingham Bowl in a partnership with Pro Start Academy and the Birmingham City Schools. The Birmingham Bowl is one of eleven bowl games owned and operated by ESPN Events, a subsidiary of ESPN.
The free clinic will give participants the opportunity to complete on-‐field agility drills and offensive and defensive training. All participants will receive a complimentary t-shirt and lunch following the clinic.
Participants will also receive a voucher for two (2) complimentary tickets to the Birmingham Bowl. The ninth annual Birmingham Bowl will be played Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Historic Legion Field and will feature teams from the Southeastern Conference and the American Conference.
“This is a special opportunity for us to offer a free football fundamentals clinic to area youth. The staff at Pro Start Academy will not only teach physical skills, but will also offer advice about the importance of staying in school and getting an education,” said Mark Meadows, executive director, Birmingham Bowl.
The clinic is open to the first 150 youth, ages 8‐13, to register online at www.birminghambowl.com. Participants are required to bring a signed waiver on Saturday morning at check-in.
